Dwolla low-code API components

By Jeff Domansky

Dwolla announced new Drop-In Components in its continued effort to lighten the technical lift of integrating a payment API. The low-code components reduce a payments integration by thousands of lines of code, dramatically shortening API integration for developers with or without technical experience.

“Companies of all sizes can copy and paste a Drop-In Component to save a significant amount of time on aspects of their digital transformation,” said Dave Glaser, President, and COO of Dwolla.

“Our engineering teams worked with current customers to identify areas of opportunity within our integration process that could be streamlined. These upgrades today make it easier for new and existing Dwolla customers to create a seamless payment experience with the flexibility of multiple payment options,” Glaser said.

Managing complex data collection is easier

faster API integration

US regulations require that payments companies collect certain information to verify the accounts they create – including those on the Dwolla Platform. One particularly tricky set of data is collecting identifying information for any “beneficial owners” of the company, meaning individuals who own or control 25% or more of a company.

Using the new Beneficial Owners drop-in component, companies can streamline collecting required information to add or remove beneficial owners using a UI component that ensures sensitive information such as a social security number or date of birth isn’t collected and stored.

The Document Upload component is another key feature. For end-users needing to upload a document for identity verification, it provides a secure yet straightforward experience for user onboarding.

“Innovation is at the heart of everything we do,” said Skyler Nesheim, Senior Vice President of Technology at Dwolla. “By launching more Drop-In Components, we’re building an even stronger payment experience for our customers and removing layers of complexity for integrating an API—all while enabling a faster ramp time to begin transacting.”

Faster, less expensive implementation

Drop-in Components simplify the navigation of various payment networks through its payment API, allowing businesses to embed Dwolla’s technology into core products or applications by changing only a few lines of code.

Unlike non-configurable payment providers, the white-label product lets businesses control the payment experience. They retain their unique brand, use case, customer needs and can offer multiple payment types, including ACH, push-to-debit, and real-time payments via The Clearing House’s RTP Network.

Key benefits of low-code components include:

  • reduced payment integration time by approximately 50%
  • streamlined collection of data on beneficial owners – required by US regulations for all payment companies – protecting sensitive information like SSN
  • faster ramp time to begin transacting with a document upload component for identity verification.

Other elements in the Dwolla UI Component Library include low-code components that solve various functions and flows, including creating a customer, document upload flexibility, balance display, and a connected flow for accepting incoming payments from a user.

There’s no question. Many developers will be excited to test the new low-code components in their sandbox in the quest for faster, secure API integration and implementation.
