Forrester: Mobile Payments Getting in the Way of Mobile Shopping

A report from Forrester suggests mobile shopping is on the decline. The study found US sales made via mobile phones dropped to 36% of the total this year, down from 43% in 2016. Worse, e-commerce actually grew 14% during the same period. 51% of those surveyed said that it’s easier to make a purchase on a desktop or laptop computer. Read more…

Criteo study shows mobile sales increased by 66%

Criteo payments researchMobile sales have increased by 66% – and account for more than a half (54%) of overall online sales made in the UK in Q1 2018. In Q1 2018, more than 32% of online sales have been made with smartphones, jumping from 17% in Q4 2017. The findings are included in a research conducted by Criteo which analysed browsing and purchasing data from over 5,000 retailers in more than 80 countries. Read more…

Google Pay comes to Chrome, Firefox and Safari

Use Google Assistant and Google PayGoogle has started to roll out its flagship payments platform on the web, announcing that Google Pay is being integrated also into Firefox and Safari. Announcing the move in a blog post, the company emphasized the browser version will work on any device, and that it can automatically fill in forms on checkout pages. Word-of-Mouth Recommendations Are Failing Mobile-Payments Services

Auriemma Consulting GroupCoveted word-of-mouth advertising is failing the mobile-payments services offered by technology giants according to the Q1-2018 Mobile Pay Tracker report from Auriemma Consulting Group. Though 34% of consumers use mobile payments – up five points from a year ago – not many are as willing to recommend Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay to others. 42% would not recommend the services, an increase from 31% a year ago. Airline Group Is Developing a Payment System That Would Bypass the Card Networks

IATA payments consortiumAn airline trade group has teamed up with Germany’s Deutsche Bank to develop a payment system that would bypass the credit card networks, potentially saving users billions in interchange. The proposal comes from the International Air Transport Association, which says it has 280 members representing 83% of air traffic. Read more…

Samsung Pay adds cash-back feature

Samsung Pay growingSamsung Pay has announced the introduction of a cash-back feature to its app, aimed to reward users for regularly spending with the wallet.
