The critical fall conference season for 2021 is back in action with virtual conferences as well as a welcome return to in-person attendance, speakers, and interaction with payment industry leaders. Members of our editorial team and I will be attending or covering many of the conferences to bring you breaking news and the latest developments.

It’s hard to believe a year and a half has gone by without the chance to meet face-to-face with our colleagues, competitors, and customers during the height of the pandemic. We’ve all gotten used to working from home, online conferencing, distance meetings using Skype and Zoom. Conference organizers face a big challenge in managing the safety and well-being of speakers and attendees, and I’m confident they‘re up to the task.

Most importantly, the payment industry, fintechs, and many entrepreneurs and businesses have stepped up with innovations in handling business in what I like to call the “digital disruption economy.”

Despite the challenges, the return to some face-to-face conferences is very welcome. We hope to see you in person on occasion and continue to bring you the latest news about positive payment industry developments in the months ahead. In addition, we invite you to pass along announcements about key upcoming conferences to us at news@paymentsnext.com.

In the meantime, here are the conferences coming soon, starting with a virtual card-not-present event this week, followed by an important digital identity conference in London, and the big annual Money 2020 conference in Las Vegas later this month, and face-to-face again for what feels like a long time.

Companies are scrambling to prepare now for the significant and rapid developments, challenges, and potential benefits that are coming.

The conference brings together global experts, including UK Government representatives, focusing on what digital ID means practically and how it will impact and benefit organizations across the spectrum, as well as a clear view of how it will work, from the technical to the legal.
